LADY BONES release another new track

LADY BONES are excited to share “24 Hour Party Girl,” the second single from the Boston trio’s upcoming full length debut Dying. Due out June 30th via Midnight Werewolf Records (Kal Marks, Big Mess, Sneeze), Lady Bones premiered their latest single via VICE together with the beginning of their summer tour dates. After sharing lead single “Botch” with Stereogum, “24 Hour Party Girl” takes Lady Bones on another rollercoaster ride through rough edged grunge, twisted Americana, and pounding post-punk. Vice noted the band’s hometown influences, stating “They’ve taken cues from their hometown heroes and kept a similar grunge spirit alive with dark vocals, semi-ironic balls-out solos and polyrhythms, and lyrical introspection that avoids becoming too self-serious”.

Speaking about the song’s lyrics, vocalist/guitarist Sean Gilston said, “”24 Hour Party Girl” is about a person addicted to attention… not being able to feel accomplished without approval from peers.  Letting other people’s opinions and views of you control and change the way you would naturally live your life.  I wrote the lyrics from the perspective of a young girl at a club.”
Dying, produced by Dan Angel and James Ryskalchick at Sex Dungeon Studios (Pile, Fat History Month, Little Big League) in Philadelphia, is a spectacular record of dark and haunting indie punk with a backwoods twang that sounds more like the product of a band living near the Floridian swamps than the bustling Boston DIY scene. Call it “sludge pop” if you will. The young trio are very much a part of that burgeoning Boston scene however, another hardworking band void of self-seriousness that have been molding their sound since forming while in high school in 2011. They carry the torch for Boston’s underground indie punk, representing a city they grew up in and Lady Bones continue to build upon the city’s reputation of exceptional post-punk indebted bands comprised of impeccable musicians and a generally carefree attitude.Lady Bones’ self described “ugly pop” is full of intriguing melodies, riffs, and vibrant polyrhythms that contort between deranged and sincere, pulling influence from the scene around them and molding it into their own sound. The band will be on the road this summer with Philadelphia’s Snoozer, check out all the dates below.

Boston’s Lady Bones have been playing together since 2011 when they met as high school students. The trio, consisting of Sean Gilston (singing/guitar) Jeremy Jackson (bass) and Egon Ryan (drums) have always focused their writing style based off the member’s close friendship and cohesiveness as a unit. There is no stylistic leader of Lady Bones, the band write songs for each other; tweaking individual ideas to fit the needs of the group as a whole. Since the release of their debut EP in 2012, the band have spent time touring the East Coast and Midwest with Kal Marks, Snoozer, It Must Be Love (members of Gunk, Ugh God, Dogs on Acid, etc) and more. The band embody that undeniable Boston charm of the underground punk scene, Lady Bones make heavy and deeply personal music while managing to not take themselves all too seriously.

After four long years, the band are ready to release their full length debut, Dying on June 30th via Midnight Werewolf (Big Mess, Sneeze, Kal Marks). The record finds Lady Bones channeling a swampy take on the cities basement punk sound, offering an extra sense of grit and impending indie rock doom via filthy yet melodic guitars, enormous polyrhytmic drumming and a heavy quaking low end rumble. There’s an undeniable influence from their surroundings, but Lady Bones have forged that into a raw howling energy. Dying is only the beginning.

Pre-orders are now available via Midnight Werewolf Records on vinyl, digital, and a limited edition t-shirt/vinyl bundle.
