Italian indie folk rock trio THE GHIBERTINS have just shared the new video of their single, ‘Breathe For Me’! Drawing influences from a wide range of artists, including John Mayer, Mumford & Sons, Ben Harper, Amos Lee, Father John Misty, Pearl Jam, Ryan Adams, Paul Simon, the single “Breathe For Me” is a throbbing and honest alternative rock offering. The track opens with a soulful vocal gently clothed with the barest guitar, launching without delay into a lush string arrangement, through which Hofmann’s passionate vocal comes through clearly. By the final chorus, “Breathe For Me” is pulsating with a choppy indie dancefloor drum beat. Hailing from Milan, the band consists of Alessio Hofmann (voice & guitar), Alessandro Fogazzi (guitar & bass) and Lorenzo Rivabella (guitar). The Ghibertins formed in 2012 and went on to release their first EP “Square The Circle” in 2015 at T-Rex Milan. Follow-up singles included “Walk Away” and “Great Divide”. In 2016, Relix Magazine playlisted the track “Facing a Loaded Gun”. During 2016, the band won the prestigious top award at the Velvet Mag Italian Tour Music Festival. In September 2016, the group took on jazz guitarist and arranger Alberto Turra and versatile young drummer Daniele Capuzzi, expanding their lineup.

In February 2017, The Ghibertins recorded the 11-track album “The Less I Know The Better” at MOB Sound Studio, experimenting with a fuller band sound while retaining the minimalist acoustic guitar origins of their previous work, and using the guitar case percussively to reflect the style and technique used during live performances.

“There are moments in all our lives where we need somebody to help carry our load and effectively “breathe for me”. In this video we wanted to create a sense of angst . The shaky camera movements, the constant motion of the subjects and the low depth of field all contribute to create anxiety while the lack of colour brings the attention to the subjects expression and, I believe , makes for a stronger connection”, says Hofmann about  “Breathe For Me”.

Lyrics:

I’ve never been so sure
Some things are better left unsaid
And it’s harder to compromise
with these thoughts around my head
When I need you more than anything
more than you would think
more than you can give

Will you breathe for me?
Will you breathe for me?

It’s getting harder to admit
Even your flaws make me complete
And when you get out of our bed
my void fills the air
And I need you more than anything
more than you would think
more than you can give

Will you breathe for me?
Breathe until the end of time?
When I struggle to move on
When it’s time to carry on
Just breathe for me.

No, no, no, no, no no

Will you breathe for me?
Breathe until the end of time?
When I struggle to move on
When it’s time to carry on
Just breathe for me.
