DOA – “Pipeline Fever” video

1 min read

Canadian punk rockers from D.O.A. have premiered a new video for their track Pipeline Fever, coming from their latest LP Hard Rain Falling out now via Sudden Death Records.

Frontman Joe Keithley commented on the video:

The oil industry is eager to maximize profits by proposing not one pipeline for Bitumen from Alberta, but four in total: Northern Gateway, the Kinder Morgan expansion, Keystone XL and Energy East. “Canada is in the middle of an election and a big issue is oil pipelines, I, like most Canadians say transporting bitumen is a disaster waiting to happen, let’s work on alternative clean energy…Apparently (Canadian Prime Minister) Stephen Harper has learned nothing from BP’s Deepwater Horizon 2010 Gulf of Mexico massive oil disaster, he cares nothing for our irreplaceable environment and future generations.”

More official word:

Every year, oil rigs and tankers spill on average 250,000,000 gallons of oil onto land or water globally.

The BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill released 200,000,000 gallons of oil and cost an estimated 22 Billion dollar loss to tourism. Fishing closures reached over 88,000 square miles. 60% of the oil remains unaccounted for.

In 2007 250,000 litres of crude oil leaked from a Kinder Morgan pipeline into the Burrard Inlet.

Mar 2, 2014 – Police arrest hundreds protesting the Keystone XL Pipeline in front of the White House. Dozens arrested by Canadian Police on Burnaby Mountain protesting the Trans Mountain Pipeline. First Nations back pipeline protest in B.C. amid more arrests.

Alberta has had an average of 2 oil spills every day for the past 37 years.

In 2010, a million gallons of oil poured into the Kalamazoo River from an Enbridge pipeline . One billion dollars spent on cleanup and 40 miles of the river are still contaminated. Tar sands oil is one of the dirtiest fuels on the Earth. It takes three barrels of water to extract each single barrel of oil.

To avoid devastating climate effects, the melting of Arctic ice, sea level rise, extreme tornadoes, hurricanes, floods and heat waves, the International Energy Association says two-thirds of known fossil reserves must remain untouched.

Polls suggest North Americans are not in favor of oil spills, pipeline ruptures, refinery fires, tanker wrecks, train disasters or environmental damages. A clear majority dislike bird kills, fish kills, water-table destruction, aquifer damage, and/or toxic environmental emissions. No one we polled would knowingly ingest toxic hydro-carbons, residual fracking chemicals, oil emulsifiers, hydraulic fluids, benzene or industrial solvents.
